The 25-year-old groom, Gustavo Schmitz, needed help from guests after he couldn’t handle the emotion of seeing his beloved, Pâmela Berto Schmitz, dressed as a bride during the wedding ceremony.
“The rush, not having eaten much during the day, and especially seeing my beautiful bride as she was,” said the groom who lost consciousness on Saturday (7) in Salete, Santa Catarina, Brazil.
Schmitz said he suffers a lot from anxiety, which may have contributed to his fainting.
The passionate groom fell ill after Pâmela, now his wife, walked up to the altar with him and held his hands. The pastor was about to speak when he began to fall backward.
Gustavo said he doesn’t remember the fall, but his partner said he had told her he was feeling unwell. The pastor and other guests rushed to catch the young man before he hit the ground.
He was assisted by a friend who is a doctor and was present, and the ceremony was able to continue, according to the groom.
“I always say if it’s not to cause trouble, I don’t even leave the house,” joked the groom.
